SATURDAY: STARTING OVER??

Okay, I’m not quite starting over. But it seems like it in some ways.

What brought this on is receipt of the feedback from my editor on my first novel, Return to Rainbow Ridge. It is very insightful and will be helpful in the end. Right now, the overwhelming response is why the heck did I presume I am an author? It’s painfully obvious from her comments and criticism that I have a LONG way to go to become even a fledgling writer.
At least it feels that way. There are many changes to be made, all throughout the story. It isn’t a total,do-over, but close to it. It will be a very busy month of December. I will have to make this a priority over everything else. I have enough pages of my second book, Rule Number One, for my critique group for December, so I can focus on the first one.

As I told my editor, the one thought I need to remember is that hopefully my first book will be the worst one I write. They will get better from there. But I hate to think I wasn’t able to make it perfect. That"s when I need to strive for excellence, not perfection.
