TUESDAY THROWBACK: JUST FOR FUN
Enough serious discussions here. This one is just for fun. It fits with the romance theme, of course. That’s what this website, and my writing, is about.
Probably all I need to do is list the title of the song in this great video: “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love,” originally recorded in 1964 by Solomon Burke, who also co-wrote it. I don’t remember his version, but I do remember the Rolling Stones’ version in the same year.
But the version that overwhelmingly comes to mind and I’ve included here is by the legendary Dan Akroyd and John Belushi in their iconic 1980 film, The Blues Brothers. Besides featuring not one but two of the greatest car chase scenes ever filmed, the movie includes exceptional musical numbers by everyone from Aretha Franklin to Cab Calloway, and, of course, The Blues Brothers.
I see no need to analyze the lyrics. Just listen and enjoy—you’ll get the message.
