WEDNESDAY WRITING: MOVING AHEAD

Moving ahead is right, just in several directions. My old habit of multi-tasking is catching up with me. But that's a good thing in this case—I think.

First, I'm getting back some of the Beta Reader comments, which so far have been extremely helpful. But it does mean some revisions. So, work on the 3rd draft of Return to Rainbow Ridge has begun. I need to have it ready to send to my editor before November 4. It will be ready, one way or another. So far, it sounds like I have a good plot and good characters. I just need some more work to fashion them into a great book.

Meanwhile, the last chapters of that book will be reviewed by my critique group next week. After that, it's all up to the editor and me. Fortunately I have the cover worked out, the back cover blurb done (1st draft at least), and I'm at least thinking about marketing (ugh).

It's a bit of a paradox. I'm not interested in making a ton of money, but I do want lots of people to read it. Hopefully I can find a way to do that.

On top of all that, I'm well into book number two, Rule Number One. I have an overall idea of the plot, but I'm sure it will change and morph into its final form as I write more. I don't have a projected date for that release, maybe sometime early next year.

Eventually I hope to get to the point where I can write two books a year. With all the story ideas I have, I'll have to do that to get them all written while I'm still able to do so.

It's an ambitious plan, but one I feel passionate about, and, as the poet Robert Browning said, ". . . a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a heaven for?"
