WEDNESDAY WONDERING: HOW DO I (THEY) LIVE WITHOUT YOU?
Most—okay, all—of my stories, so far, are second chance romances. I certainly seem to have a soft spot for such plots. With a second chance romance, there has to be something that ends the first chance, one way or another, or else there wouldn’t need to be a second chance. That means they have to split up, one way or another. But how do you go on beyond that?
That’s where this post’s title comes in. It’s taken from the Leeann Rimes hit song, “How Do I Live Without You?” It was a huge hit for her in 1997, when she was still only 15. The song conveys the doubts and fears about how to live without someone you love. That’s appropriate for two people ending their relationship the first time around.
But I’m thinking what someone in that situation may wonder is, WHY do I live without you? It would seem to me that in that situation life would lose much of its meaning. Why go on without the one person who has to be in your life?
There are a couple of thoughts that occur to me. One is that I believe God is driving this train, so He’ll let me know when it’s time to get off, and not before. The other is that finding the love of your life, your soulmate, is a miracle that most people never experience. “Better to have loved and lost” and all that. Be grateful it happened, don’t be too sorry if it’s over.
The people in my stories don’t go looking for their lost partner-to-be, it has to be fate that reunites them. Or maybe it’s God who intends them to be together all along.
None of this really relieves the pain of separation, of seemingly losing someone in your life. Leann’s song certainly has the sadness and pain of such a loss. Here’s a link to her video. Enjoy.
