WEEKLY WISDOM: IF I FELL
The first week of my new Author Website comes to an end. This post has a bit of irony in the title. The “Wisdom” part is shaky at best, as is the weekly part. As for the rest of the title. That’s a bit ironic, too.
It, of course, comes from one of the Beatles’ songs, and was featured in their first film, “A Hard Day’s Night.” That was a magic time for the Beatles, when they could still be crazy young musicians instead of the grown-up businessmen they’d have to become.
Their songs were simple, which I loved. Most were about the one thing young people dealt with—and struggled over—the most: love. Of course, some of us didn’t deal with it nearly as often as we would have liked.
The concept of love for people their age at the time seemed straightforward. They found out that sometimes it gets complicated, as the deceptively simple lyrics of this song reveal. They ring true for me particularly.
“. . . I found that love was more than just holding hands . . . I would be sad if our new love was in vain.”
No need for details, let me just say that some life lessons last, well a lifetime. Enjoy the simplicity of the song, The video shows a cover that I especially like, one in the spirit of the original, even down to the black and white images.
